For instance, Prof. V. V. Bolotov, an eminent expert of the early XX century, and the author of the Lectures on the History of the Early Christian Church, a tractate of great authority, wrote that "The Nicaean Council devised for Easter to be celebrated on the Sunday following the full moon of the first Spring month, that is, the month whose full moon (the 14th Moon) either coincides with the date of the spring equinox or follows it" ([83], Volume 2, page 446).

However, a little while later, "V. V. Bolotov was already proving in his report about the Paschalia that the Nicaean council refrained from issuing the edict about celebrating Easter, immediately after the spring equinox ([83], Volume 2, page 446, comment 1).
What could it be that made V. V. Bolotov change his opinion on an apparently simple issue in such a radical way?

"Calendars, textbooks, and tractates on the compilation of the Orthodox Paschalia contain references to the edict of the First Ecumenical council that proscribes to celebrate Easter on the first Sunday after the Passover, which falls on the first full moon in a spring. But it is widely known that there is no such rule amongst the present edicts of the First Ecumenical Council.
